This particular piece of pop art was created by Andy Warhol. During the 1960’s Andy began making paintings of famous American products like Campbell Soup Cans. His painting included newspaper clippings, dollar bills, brand name products, and more. His philosophy is sort of strange- yet very interesting.
The philosophy of Andy Warhol: “What’s great about this country is that America started the tradition where the richest consumers buy essentially the same things as the poorest. You can be watching TV and see Coca Cola, and you know that the President drinks Coca Cola, Liz Taylor drinks Coca Cola, and just think, you can drink Coca Cola, too. A coke is a coke and no amount of money can get you a better coke than the one the bum on the corner is drinking. All the cokes are the same and all the cokes are good. Liz Taylor knows it, the President knows it, the bum knows it, and you know it.”
Andy’s Campbell Soup Can painting is yet one of his famous pieces or pop art. Andy Warhol played a very important role in the history of pop art.

Andy Warhol painted several versions of Marilyn Monroe. He used different colors, sizes, and formats. Warhol was fascinated with fame for himself, but also of those that were famous. Warhol painted many other celebrities and iconic people from history. The piece below is the Turquoise Marilyn and was painted in 1964. I like the way that Andy can take the same picture and change the colors into however he wants. The way that Warhol can take an average picture and change it into something bright and colorful really amazes me.

This is a piece of pop art done Marilyn style. It was drawn and painted by Laura Sotka. Laura likes painting dogs for many reasons. Laura also works with her sister Holly and together they paint what they feel is most important to them. They both share the love for dogs, and not just one type of dog, all dogs. They make sure to create an original piece of art that shows their love for dogs.
“I never had children, so my dogs are my kids. Yea, I’m crazy about them. I choose homes based on how large the backyard is, if a doggie door can be put in, etc. Travel is sometimes out of the question because “what about the dogs?” I have one that stays at my side 24/7 (which makes bathroom breaks a little embarrassing). I haven’t taken to dressing them up yet, but who knows- if that perfect outfit comes around… They are my joy, and I could not imagine life without them.” ~Artist Laura Sotka
