Digital Art Pad

I was online looking for cool art websites, when I stumbled upon something I thought was really cool. It was an online digital art pad where you could create your own unique painting with the click of a mouse. Then, once you finish your painting, you can watch what it looked like while you were in the process of making it. If you’re really into art, you should definitely check this out.

Jasper Johns in The Simpsons

Many people know about The Simpsons. It’s a classic. But not many art fans know about the episode with Jasper Johns and Pop Art. In this episode, Homer has a bad encounter with the making of a barbecue. He throws the “junk” away but an art dealer realizes the value and encourages him to put it in a exhibition. Homer then sells his art for huge sum at his own exhibition, Homer’s Odyssey. He then starts on a creative spree until he loses interest, and soon will find a new one.

In October, the first major exhibition just for pop art will be opening in London. “Pop Art Portraits” brought 52 major works in pop art together. They included pieces by Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Richard Hamilton, Patrick Caulfield, Robert Rauschenburg, and Sir Peter Blake. The exhibition includes a section just for portraits of Marilyn Monroe, who was a major US icon, and the subject of many pop art works, in the 1950s. Beautiful Hand Painting Art

Guido Daniele lives Italy. He was born in Soverato and with artistic ability. He specializes in two things; body painting and trompe l’oeil. Trompe l’oeil is the art of painting on a two dimensional painting realistically and creating an optical illusion. Daniele is exceptional at this. The way he can create such vivid images on a average wall is insane. When Daniele does his body painting, he amazes everyone. The way he uses the texture of someones hand to influence the painting is outstanding.

Women in Art

This was suggested to me as a comment, and I must say that this video was simply amazing. I love the way the music and images blend together to make this incredible video. What I find completely fascinating is that all of these images are of real life masterpieces, such as Mona Lisa.

You should definitely check it out.

Pop Art Graffiti

Graffiti is images or words made on public surfaces such as brick walls. Graffiti is the defacement of a surface using spray paint, markers, or other utensils. If graffiti is done without the property owner’s permission it can be considered vandalism, which is against the law in most countries. Graffiti has been around for centuries, and has begun to grow into what is now known as “modern graffiti”. Graffiti is often used as an advertisement, and is also commonly used to spread social and political messages. Graffiti has also become a modern art form and is featured in galleries world wide. A very famous artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat, started his career with graffiti. He was a friend of Andy Warhol, a famous pop artist, and his pieces sell for high prices still today.

Below are a few examples of today’s graffiti.

Sidewalk Chalk Art

Julian Beever is known for many things. He is most renown for his work on sidewalks. Since 2004, there has been a chain message that has been circulating the internet. The way he draws is known as anamorphosis. Anamorphosis is a drawing presenting a distorted image that appears in natural form under certain conditions. Basically it is a optical illusion depending on the angle you look at it. Outside of his sidewalk art career, he also paints murals and replicas of other artist’s art. Julian also does a lot of advertising for big businesses and objects such as Spiderman and Coca Cola.
