Low Fat Smoothie Recipes

Often when you think you are feeling hungry, it can often be your body’s way of telling you that you are in fact thirsty.  It is always good to drink water, especially as it will help you lose weight, but sometimes you need something a bit tastier that will also satisfy you.  Smoothies can be a great remedy for this.

Something you need to be careful of, is many of the shop bought smoothies are full of sugar, so it is much better to prepare your own.  We have some great recipes that are easy to make and will taste great too.

Strawberry and Raspberry Smoothie

Ingredients:
1/2 Cup of strawberries
1/2 Cup of raspberries
1/2 Cup of pineapple juice
1 Cup of low fat yoghurt
2 Cups of ice

Mix everything together well in a blender and pour into a tall glass.

Lime Juice Smoothie

1/2 Cup of freshly chopped lime
1 Cup of low fat lime sorbet (optional)
3/4 Cup of skimmed milk
1/2 Cup of raspberries
2 Cups of ice

Blend together for a very refreshing and zesty smoothie.

Broccoli and Blueberry Smoothie

1 Cup of blueberries
1/2 Cup of broccoli (Steamed is best but can boil, will have less nutrition though)
1 Cup of cranberry juice
1/2 Cup of low fat yoghurt
1 Cup of strawberries (optional but will add extra natural sweetness)

Mixed Berry Smoothie

1 Cup of mixed Strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries
Fresh best or frozen is fine)
1/2 Cup low fat yoghurt
1 Cup of ice

Blend well and serve

Blueberry and Orange Smoothie
1 Cup of fresh blueberries
1 Whole orange (peeled)
1 Cup low fat yoghurt

1 Scoop of low fat ice cream (optional)
1 Cup of ice

Strawberry Oatmeal Smoothie

1/4 Cup of oatmeal
1/4 Low fat yoghurt
1/4 Cup skimmed milk
1/2 Cup strawberries
1/2 Cup raspberries
1/2 Tablespoon of honey (optional)

Make sure you blend well until the oatmeal is broken down fully.

Sweet Vegetable Smoothie

It can be a struggle to make sure you are getting your full daily intake of vegetables, so why not make a vegetable smoothie to make the experience more enjoyable:
1 Cup apple juice
1 Cup of sliced apple
1/2 Cup sliced carrots (use carrot sticks if you want to avoid peeling and cutting)
1/2 Cup cucumber (sliced and peeled)
1-2 Cups of ice

Tomato Smoothie

2 Cups chopped tomato
1/2 Cup tomato juice
1/4 Cup apple juice
1/4 Cup pf celery
Splash of Tabasco sauce
2 Cups of ice
